FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TOPIGEN TO PROVIDE UPDATES ON NOVEL TREATMENTS FOR RESPIRATORY DISEASES AT CONFERENCES IN SCOTLAND AND CANADA

Presentations to Highlight Development Progress with Three Drug Candidates, as well as New Collaboration

Montreal, Canada, May 16, 2007 -- TOPIGEN Pharmaceuticals Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company specializing in respiratory diseases, today announced that

Paul K. Wotton, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, will present updates on the company’s clinical programs at two upcoming conferences: BioEquity Europe 2007 and

Bio VentureForum East 2007.

At each of these conferences, Dr. Wotton will detail development progress on TOPIGEN’s small molecule and RNA-targeting product candidate programs, TPI ASM8 and TPI 1020, specifically the company’s successful steps in driving its product portfolio to its next stage of clinical development. Dr. Wotton will also provide details of a newly formed strategic collaboration with NOVAGALI Pharma S.A.

In July 2006, TOPIGEN announced that inhaled TPI ASM8 was the first drug of its kind to show pharmacological activity in the respiratory tract of patients with mild-to-moderate asthma. The study validated TOPIGEN’s proprietary multi-targeted therapeutic approach, demonstrating the drug candidate works effectively in the respiratory tract of patients with asthma, and its favorable safety

profile in this patient population. As a result, TPI ASM8 is currently being evaluated in an expanded Phase II study.

TPI 1020 is a novel corticosteroid that was in-licensed from NicOx S.A. (Eurolist: NICOX) and is part of an exciting new class of nitric oxide (NO)-donating therapies. TOPIGEN has recently conducted a dose escalating 21-day Phase II safety study in asthmatic smokers and will initiate a proof-of concept Phase II study in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) later this year.

Dr. Wotton will be available for one-on-one meetings during the conferences.
